SUP Flat Water Fun for the family

SUP Flat Water Fun for kids, mom, dad and seniors. When you are organising a family outing in the Algarve, it isn't always easy to pick activities to do, that everyone in your family will like.

There is no doubt that pleasing the whole family is a mission in itself. But amazingly enough, SUP (Stand-up Paddling) is one activity that is sure to keep everyone entertained including the kids and grand parents.

With the summer holidays quickly approaching, the south coast of the Algarve becomes the perfect location for fun in the sun for most people living all over Europe. So it is hardly surprising that many migrate down to the Algarve during the holiday seasons to get out of the frigid weather that they experience in their own countries, and come here, to enjoy some fun in the sun.

If you happen to live here, this time of year means that many of your family members are coming to see you and they often bring everyone and everything, including the dog, the cat ... all that is missing is the kitchen sink. ;-)

And while you may love everyone visiting, this calls for putting on your party hat and showing everyone how great the Algarve is. And what better way to do that than get them all out on the water? It is always hard to find activities that all can enjoy. SUP is one such activity.

You don't need to have all the necessary equipment as there are many places were you can get your hands on boards and paddles.

Although SUP is a fairly new sport in the Algarve (and the rest of the world), there are quite a few SUP providers locally. You will find them from Vila Real de Santo Antonio to Sagres. And with all the flat water that the Algarve offers you, what better way to please your family, than to introduce them to this fairly new water sport and activity?

Most local SUP Surf Schools have boards and equipment to offer you and your family, as well as highly trained staff to take you through your first paces. That guarantees that your family members get started in this new sport learning the appropriate techniques and having a really fun time in a safe manner at the same time!

So what are you waiting for?

Google “SUP in the Algarve” today and reserve an afternoon of fun for you and your family with any one of the many SUP providers. Remember, that no experience is necessary for you to start! Just take everyone out for a great time. A word of warning ... your family members may get the SUP bug ... and so may you and your own family.

There is no doubt that SUP brings the family together ... its a great activity to bond with your kids and spouse.  SUP is a sport that is accessible to people of all ages and water-sport ability, although we do recomend that all should be able to swim.

For obvious reasons we would not recommend a family SUP fun holiday for families with very young kids (under 5 year olds). But if the kids are older than that and can swim, then the south coast of the Algarve is perfect for the whole family. Here you are presented with shallow, flat crystalline waters, and loads of adventurous places to paddle to on your SUP.

For any family member that loves to keep fit, SUP is renowned for being a great full body workout. Which has been maximised by SUP fitness classes, which range from general fitness programs, pilates and yoga.

If your family is looking for more exchitment, after all many adults and teenagers like waves, don't dispair, we have them too ... our waves are always a hit with them. We are lucky in the Algarve as we have a combination of flat water for the younger and not so young family members that wants to take it easy in our south coast, and you can get some nice waves for teens and adults in our west coast.
