What's New?

ASMAA invites you to dine and dance the night away with us on the 3 December 2013 at Adega da Marina Restaurant in Lagos, as we commemorate our first anniversary and prepare to welcome Christmas.

Can you believe it? We are nearly one year old. And as we get closer to our first anniversary, the ASMAA team is saying thanks to all of you for your support until now. We have had quite an eventful year, but we couldn’t have reached where we are without you and your support! So we say THANKS!

Lagos, 11 October 2013: ASMAA, the Algarve Surf and Marine Activities Association welcome the fact that Lagos Port has now a full time dedicated executive, Commandant Pedro Miguel Carvalho Pinto, which appointment was effective as from the 9 October 2013. We extend our sincere congratulations to him on his new post.

The oil companies Repsol and Partex (which was started by Calouste Gulbenkian) intend to start deep-sea oil/gas-drilling in Algarve, early in 2014, with the first exploration taking place in the Algarve foreshore at only 8 kilometres from the coast, amidst much secrecy and chronic lack of information from all parties involved.

The beaches and the coastal zone of the Algarve are under attack from a variety of economic players.

The question that one must ask is, what can we do about it? There is plenty that the local and international community can do to stop the irresponsible development that we have seen mushrooming all over the Algarve.
