Lagos, Portugal, 24 July 2013: - ASMAA, the Algarve Surf and Marine Activities Association confirmed today that “Surf Schools” are not per-se considered as being “Tourism Activity” businesses by Tourism of Portugal.
And we agree with Tourism of Portugal!
Does that mean that this is the end of Surf Schools in Portugal? Not at all, stated Laurinda Seabra, ASMAA’s CEO.
Because You are all like family we are asking YOU to Help Name Our Mascot and you can Win €100 in prizes.
We’re putting a rallying cry to the Algarve lovers to help us name him.
We have some thoughts. But we want your help.
Lagos, 20 June 2013: ASMAA, the Algarve Surf and Marine Activities Association is asking the above very valid question because of the back-tracking that the Capitania de Lagos did this week, when they cancelled the Edital 17/2013 and went back to utilising the previous “protectionist” Edital for the 2013 summer season.
Lagos, 3 May 2013: ASMAA, The Algarve Surf and Marine Activities Association announces that they have received today from the Capitania de Lagos the new beach licence allocation process as Edital 17/2013 for the beaches of Arrifana, Cordoama and Amado (which is available for download on our site - official doc is in Portuguese).
The beaches and the coastal zone of the Algarve are under attack from a variety of economic players.
The question that one must ask is, what can we do about it? There is plenty that the local and international community can do to stop the irresponsible development that we have seen mushrooming all over the Algarve.
