Aljezur - Vale Dos Homens Beach

Praia do Vale dos Homens is situated close to Rogil, the borough capital. A true pearl of natural beauty and complete calm. Limited by tall cliffs of schist, it is a wide beach and an excellent option for those who prefer quiet and isolation, ideal for nature lovers.

The scent of rock rose is intense here and from the beach one can walk up the ravine, Barranco de Vale dos Homens, for a few dozen metres. This ravine is a valley cut in the rock with a small, crystal clear water course.

The outlay of the rocks in the sea allows for enjoyable bathing at low tide. At this time one can also see the tide pools, temporary habitat of small coastal fish, such as sargo, sea bass or young sole and different marine organisms, such as sea anemones, mussels, limpets, periwinkles, sea urchins, sea stars, shrimps or crabs.

Access to the sand is by way of an enormous wooden staircase which is also a great way to get a fantastic view of the beach.

It possesses a wild beauty, as with all of the rest of Costa Vicentina beaches, the beach Vale dos Homens is quiet and uncrowded. But it is particularly special for its intense smell of cistus
