The scent of rock rose is intense here and from the beach one can walk up the ravine, Barranco de Vale dos Homens, for a few dozen metres. This ravine is a valley cut in the rock with a small, crystal clear water course.
The outlay of the rocks in the sea allows for enjoyable bathing at low tide. At this time one can also see the tide pools, temporary habitat of small coastal fish, such as sargo, sea bass or young sole and different marine organisms, such as sea anemones, mussels, limpets, periwinkles, sea urchins, sea stars, shrimps or crabs.
Access to the sand is by way of an enormous wooden staircase which is also a great way to get a fantastic view of the beach.
